A Swiss tech startup released a new quantum-based thin-film battery technology this week, marking a major upgrade for consumer electronics and electric vehicles. Unlike traditional lithium batteries that rely on chemical reactions, the new battery utilizes quantum electron tunneling to store and release energy stably. Lab tests show it can double the battery life of smartphones, laptops and EVs, while supporting 10-minute full-speed fast charging. The material also eliminates overheating and aging problems, with a service life of up to 15 years. The company plans to launch mass production in early 2027 and cooperate with mainstream electronic brands globally.
